The Workbook
FLAT RATES AND THE WORKBOOK
Separation and divorce – individual clients:
Facing a separation? You might feel hopeless and like you don’t even know where to start. You’re also probably worried about legal fees. At Fall River Law, our extensive knowledge and experience will help you work things out at what might feel like the most difficult time in your life.
We can act as your lawyers in negotiation, collaborative practice, and court-connected settlement processes.
We’ve developed an innovative Family Law workbook that includes time with our legal team as well as a comprehensive guide to prepare you for the process.
For a flat rate, you get:
- An introductory meeting with our legal team. We’ll learn about your situation and answer those burning questions keeping you awake at night.
- A comprehensive workbook. Completing the workbook will help you work through important decisions and prepare you to work with us.
- A follow-up meeting with our legal team. We’ll address more complex questions and identify areas where you need our help as well as areas you might be able to resolve independently. This meeting usually takes 90 minutes to two hours. We’ll recommend next steps and offer cost estimates and options for payment, including hourly rate or a further workbook flat rate. It’s your choice!

Mediation for separation and divorce:
As lawyers/mediators, we help both you and your former partner work towards an agreement on the issues by acting in a neutral role. Our workbook helps you save money in legal costs AND prepare both of you to communicate effectively and resolve the conflicts that can get in the way of reaching agreement.

Our Family in A Few Homes helps separating couples with adult children.
Our flat rate includes:
- Meetings with our mediator and each of you separately. Confidentially share your needs and concerns, ask questions about the mediation process, and prepare for joint mediation sessions. You will also be asked to gather information pertinent to your family situation. Each meeting usually takes about an hour.
- A comprehensive workbook for each of you to complete on your own. This will prepare you for the joint mediation sessions, and includes exercises to help you understand your communication style and conflict challenges, shared values, and “money personality”.
- Your first joint mediation session. We’ll work with both of you together to begin addressing your challenges. This meeting usually takes about two hours.
- A second joint mediation session. We’ll work with both of you again to address any complex or difficult challenges you identify. This meeting usually takes about two hours.
After completing this process, you’ll both be better informed and ready to work towards agreement. Now we can make a plan for the best path forward. This includes predicting how much mediation time you will likely need and options for an additional flat rate or other payment plan.
Most separating couples need between two and four joint mediation sessions. How much time you need depends on how well you communicate, gather information, and manage conflict.
We help you focus on the best future for your family.
